In this article, we will cover a few different examples of how the widget can be used to display data and what the configuration should be in the ReadyUp Admin Portal. These examples will pertain specifically to the configuration of the event data being displayed in the widget, and will not cover theme or color options.
Country Specific Widgets
Sometimes we have an Organization with different properties serving different locations, widgets can be filtered based on languages in order to accommodate this. In this example we have three web properties:
- English Website
- French Website
- Spanish Website
You can create three different widgets for these separate properties and simply change the "language" filter to only show events in the specific language.
- English Website Widget
- Language filter set to English
- French Website
- Language filter set to French
- Spanish Website
- Language filter set to Spanish
This should allow you to display the properly localized events on each of your web properties.
Platform Specific Widgets
Sometimes the same game's events are broken up by platform, with competitions on console taking place separately from those on PC, we support this with the platform filter. You can create different widgets that only show events from one console.
- PC Widget
- Platform filter set to PC
- Xbox Widget
- Platform filter set to Xbox
- Playstation Widget
- Platform filter set to PS5
2 Games, 1 Publisher
A lot of game publishers have multiple titles, and sometimes these titles don't have a lot of cross-over in audience, so creating multiple widgets is the best solution. In this example we have three web properties:
- Example Game A's Website
- Example Game B's Website
- Example Game Publisher's Website
Make sure all events are created under the publisher's Organization in ReadyUp and then create three widgets:
- Example Game A's Website Widget
- Game filter set to Example Game A
- Organizer filter set to Example Game Publisher
- Example Game B's Website Widget
- Game filter set to Example Game B
- Organizer filter set to Example Game Publisher
- Example Game Publisher's Website Widget
- Organizer filter set to Example Game Publisher
This should keep all three sites in sync as the game websites will only see events for their specific game, but the publisher's website displays events for both.
Team Based Widgets
Teams are very involved in the esports ecosystem but often exist across multiple titles which don't necessarily have a lot of cross-over in their audience. Additionally, teams may organize their own events which they would want to display as well. In this case, we have multiple properties:
- Example Team's Homepage
- Example Team's Game A page
- Example Team's Game B page
Ensure any events the team is appearing in have them listed as a participant.
- Example Team's Homepage
- Participant Filter is set to Example Team
- Example Team's Game A page
- Participant filter is set to Example Team
- Game filter is set to Game A
- Example Team's Game B page
- Participant filter is set to Example Team
- Game filter is set to Game B
This will keep all pages of the site in sync with
Sponsor Widgets
Sponsors are key stakeholders in the esports ecosystem and want the events they sponsor to have maximum distribution. To do this they can also create widgets to distribute events on their Website. We support the ability to show all events that an organization sponsors. You can do this using the Sponsor Filter
- HyperX Widget
- Sponsor filter is set to HyperX
- Intel Widget
- Sponsor filter is set to Intel
Game Release Widget
The type filter allows you to show specific kinds of events, for example game releases. By using this filter you can filter out all esports events and only show upcoming game releases.
